Yes, the website allows for questions and answers between interested parties, using our in-built messaging feature.

That's up to you. If you want to travel 300 km for someone's hairdryer, who are we to stop you?  For smaller items like books, cutlery or hair pieces, the owner may choose to send them to you or have it picked up!

Try Google for that OR you can list it in the ‘stuff people want’ page, so that other BorrowBlob members know what you are looking for.
And be sure to tell your friends about BorrowBlob. The more members, the more items available, the bigger the community, and the better the service.

For Owners: People who have listed their items to rent out to other people

Nope. BorrowBlob is all about renting and sharing, not selling. We just connect owners of stuff with the borrowers. But if a borrower wants to buy your item - we suggest you sleep on it.

BorrowBlob is taking utmost measures in ensuring that items rented are clean and sanitized to the best of our ability.

You can list anything that you are comfortable renting out provided it meets our Listing Policy and Terms of Use conditions

A simple protection method is to opt for the Item Protection Feature. This option is available when you list the item. This is the best way to protect your items. Blob recommended ^_^
(see
IPF section for more details)

Alternatively you could ask for a security deposit for your product.

BorrowBlob will collect the rental fee and the bond/deposit amount on behalf of the owner and will only release both the amounts once the item has been returned in an acceptable condition.

It costs nothing to list any item, so go crazy!

That's a tough one. Enough to ensure that the renter looks after your stuff. But do not make the bond too much, or else you will turn the renter off renting from you. An example might be Dhs300 for a Playstation worth Dhs1,200 or around 25% of the total value of the item. These are only suggestions and it’s up to the users to decide amongst themselves.

There are a few things to keep in mind,

Our Blob is blue

&.

We (BorrowBlob) have no control over prices set on the site.

Everything on BorrowBlob That’s put up for rent is decided by the Blobbers, not us Thats simply because its your stuff, your site, your life and so you decide. Fair enough we say. Anyway, if something is priced too high, it wont rent out. We reckon over time people will work out the average prices, which can be used as an indicator.

What to price things at?

Well it depends on a few things;

How often you use itSome money is better than none on something youre not using

How long the item lasts For example electronic items get outdated very quickly, so a lower price makes sense given it wont be worth much, if anything, in a couple of years.

Also here is a brilliant idea!! make it cheaper for longer rental periodsyou will get lots of hits!!

But, its your decision really.

General Pricing advice: We recommend the following prices on items which our research shows is best for generating lots of rental transactions

1 day = 5% of items value

1 Week or weekend = 10% of items value

1 month rental = 15% of items value

This seems to be a good model for most items, but of course the final pricing decision is yours. But it makes sense to rent it out more often for a lower price, than to charge too much and never rent it out.

Before you accept or decline a rental transaction via the website, we present you with an opportunity to view the profile and feedback of interested blobbers. This way you can decide if youd like to proceed in dealing with someone before you accept their transaction request.

Yes, the website allows for questions and answers between interested parties, using our in-built messaging feature.

The website allows item owners to reject rental requests, which might be necessary due to poor feedback on the interested party.

However if you want to make money best would be to try and work out any problems.remember no rent no money!! And at end of the day, you are really helping someone out, it can count as your good deed for the day.

The bond/deposit will be paid to BorrowBlob to hold via our website by the person renting the item.

That's up to you. If you want to travel 300 kms to rent out your Ugg boots, who are we to stop you? For smaller items like books, CDs or novelty ties, you might be better off sending it in the post. We recommend that you use registered mail. However in all cases, particularly the first time you deal with someone, we recommend you meet with the person. (see Safety and Security).

This is a great question! At present the platform does provide for item owners to collect a security deposit to secure the safe return of their items from renters.

But hear hear! We have come up with our in-house Item Protection Feature, that protects your rented item.

It’s better than the security deposit, Blob recommended.
